C2P- What type of scheme did you run in college? What did coaches ask of you?

We ran a 3-4 scheme. My position was called a bandit, I was basically a stand up defensive end/outside linebacker. What was asked of me was to be a physical player. I had to be able to set edges, help stop the run, rush the passer and drop into coverage.

C2P – What are the hallmark qualities of your ability on the field that NFL scouts will immediately identify?

Scouts will see my versatility. I was a physical run stopper who could rush the passer and also drop in coverage when needed.

C2P – What positive abilities go hidden? Maybe the scheme didn’t allow you to showcase curtain aspects of your game or leadership qualities or game film study? What do scouts need to know about you they have yet to find out?

I work extremely hard in everything I do. I’m a lead by example kind of guy. I do everything right with no complaint. I have no on or off field issues. I will give 110% no matter what.

C2P – What is something positive said to you by coaches that motivates you to keep getting better?

Just that I have great work ethic. That motivates me to give everything I have and not show that I’m content with where I’m at. I’m always working to better myself and my skills.

C2P – Was there anything ever said negative that helps you grind towards your goal that you use as motivation? Who said it?

I’m sure there was but I don’t try to let negative things said about me to get to me. I just keep my head held high and keep grinding to achieve my goals.

C2P – Anything interesting as a person we should know about you – Any interesting aspects of your life that are worthy of mentioning? Hobbies etc…

I’m from a small town in Ohio, called coshocton. I am from a football family, I had a few members play in the NFL in past; John Grimsley and Ed Grimsley.

C2P – Any contact with NFL teams?

Not yet

C2P – Height/Weight leaving high school and current Height/Weight now?

6’2″- 215lb. 6’3″ – 256.

Great size and has ability to play inside or outside, but may be best suited playing the outside linebacker position. Shaw leaves Indiana as a team captain and brings a lot of versatility to the position after playing in the Hoosiers 3-4 defense. He played a lot as a stand up defensive end who also saw a majority of his snaps dispersed to plugging the run, rushing the passer and dropping in coverage. Fantastic athletic intangibles for his size along with the mind set of a team leader. Shows outstanding effort and his versatility and athleticism that he confirmed with a great Pro Day. Smooth and fluid in his movements, Shaw shows good instincts and finds the ball. He is capable of getting to the quarterback as well as dropping into coverage. Closes fast and can play sideline to sideline. Appears to have good awareness in zone coverage and has a feel for routes. Using his hands to shed blockers and be improved. The type of guy who can show up in a lot of different phases of the game and be successful. Has the measurements and ability to play at the next level and worth taking a chance on late.Plays with passion and a lot of energy and brings positive presence to his teammates. Outstanding weight-room strength. Can slip and avoid blockers and make plays that are directed towards him and closes quickly to the ball.
