Marc Orozco, K, Grambling State – 2019 NFL Draft

School:  Grambling State
College Experience: Senior
Height/Weight: 5’8″ / 170

Orozco was like a power hitter in baseball sailing balls into the stands during batting practice, during his Pro Day workout. He was crushing it. Crushing in distance and accuracy.

Colombian born, Orozco was playing soccer growing up and did not play organized football until he reached high school in Denton, Texas. First day of kicker tryouts the foundation of his skill was transforming from the soccer setting to the gridiron. They kept moving him back kick and after and he was sailing them through the up-rights.

He would head to Grambling State to establish himself as one of the most decorated kickers in SWAC history. He holds a laundry list of accolades which I find impressive since Orozco was not attending the big-time camps like Kohl’s, Chris Sailer of Ray Guy. Those camps aren’t cheaper, but it is often accompanied by many of the top kickers, long-snappers and punters that are in the mix of top prospects prior to the NFL Draft.

Very accurate kicker who consistently hits the ball through the up-rights. He responds positively under pressure and feels confident that anything around 57-yards on in should be considered automatic. That does not mean anything beyond that distance Orozco lacks confidence, but obviously the farther the distance the higher the risk of a miss. Orozco left school connecting on 88% of his attempts with the most attempted in SWAC history.

The Bears, Colts, Jaguars, Packers, Raiders, Redskins and Saints all wanted a quick word with Orozco after his Pro Day performance. He will perform at the Dallas Cowboys local day which should only enhance his opportunities to find a place to kick as camps begin to open around the NFL in the coming months.
