Luis Perez

A remarkable story lies underneath one of the most talented D2 quarterbacks in the country. Luis Perez originally was a bowler and wide receiver. Beneath those abilities was the hunger to be under center and leading a football team.

His route taken to arrive at Texas A&M Commerce is one of true dedication and shows the resilient quickness to learn one of the games hardest positions. He eventually gave up his bowling shoes to chase the dream of becoming a collegiate quarterback. Perez arrived at Southwestern eighth on the quarterback depth chart as a walk-on and by fall camp the next season he was the back-up.

Prior to his senior season he has thrown an astonishing touchdown to interception ratio of 55 touchdowns to nine interceptions. He possesses the size and ability to monitor attention as the season progresses. The Lions are coming off an 11-2 season and look to capture it all this year especially with Perez at quarterback.

He was nominated for the Harlon Hill Trophy, awarded to the Division II most valuable player and has been recognized as an All-State Good Hands nominee this year for his charitable work off the field.
