Kevin Thompson, 6-3, 250, DE, Bethune Cookman #91, (2018 Stats, 46tkls, 9.5 TFL, 3sacks, 2FF, 1FR, 3BH, 3PBU and 1SAF) Kevin participated in the FCS Bowl and the College Gridiron Showcase. He won defensive MVP of College Gridiron Showcase. He met with several NFL scouts

Thompson was not always the long lean edge rusher most people know him for at Bethune-Cookman. He admitted that growing up he was one of the worst players on the football team and his chubby frame was the reason he was playing left tackler before the lightbulb went on with a change of positions to defensive end.

He is a high-effort overachiever who brings an energy to the defense. Thompson brings great effort. It is a contagious way of playing who raises the level of his teammates. Long and athletic, NFL Scouts wanted to peek at him as a tight end during his week of practices at the Gridiron Showcase. That shows his flexibility and change of direction skills that he brings to the edge.

Shows awareness to locate the ball and gives great pursuit. I feel he plays quick and brings a consistent effort every play. Moves well enough to drop in coverage which coincides teams’ interest at him at tight end.

May lack the strength to be an every-down end. Might be best suited on the move and projecting to a 3-4 rush linebacker in the NFL. Definitely one of the players that intrigues the curiosity moving forward due to his skill set.
