The Show To Know Before They Go Pro
c2p_smallicon – Growing playing Pop-Warner football – Were you the kid scoring four, five or six touchdowns a game? JW – I always was and growing up in Texas, football is huge in Texas. I was the kid they would check the birth certificate before every game. Just to make sure (He was of age). Athletic ability can only take you so far and when you get to this level everyone has that ability. It’s about mental toughness and working to continue to get better.

c2p_smalliconThe injury your season had to be a big blow. How did you react afterwards and how long did it take to shake it off and regroup?
JW – I’m actually someone who gets over something quick. The next day I was already in the weight room at six o’clock in the morning with my strength coach, just because I have a lot of confidence in myself. Once I set a goal I’m going to reach my goal.

c2p_smallicon – That is resilient the way you responded.
JW – That first day was tough. I’d probably being lying to say that I wasn’t (Upset). That next day was when it really clicked and I was full force ready to go 100%.

Besides his atheltic prowess, Williams will endear himself to NFL teams due to his calm demeanor and appetite for being successful. He has the size (5’10” and 219lbs.) that most of the all-time great backs are near. His lateral quickness and run instincts are natural. He is adept at catching the football out of the backfield, which is something he did as a freshman mostly at Arkansas until new head coach Bret Bielema came in a wanted a more power based run attack. That led to the country seeing the best of what Williams can do at tailback. Playing along side Alex Collins proved his unselfishness as the two combined as a lethal combination. Williams has the ability to stay on the field on three downs. Runs north and south and brushes off ar tacklers. He is a polished blocker and able to excel in pass protection. Coming off a foot injury that ended his senior season will hamper his value, but the overall reality is one NFL team will get him a lot cheaper than he is actually worth.
