Vander Laan leaves Ferris State with an all-time mark of 37-9 mark in his four years as starting QB and went 26-2 overall in his last 28 starts. He led Bulldogs to team’s first 11-plus win season since 1995 in 2014 and the offense averaged 520 yards per game of total offense this year. He developed as an option quarterback who thrived on running the football early in his career.

His junior and senior year, Vander Laan dedicated himself to passing the football and learnign the naunces of the positions. Well versed is both handling the football on the ground he can delivery the ball in the air. He scored more career points than any other active quarterback in the college football at any level.

His athleticism has him on the NFL Draft radar on several positions. Besides quarterback NFL teams also are interested in seeing Vander Laan has a H-Back type player at the next level. Teams are able to view him like former Chicago Bears tight end Zack Miller. Thirty of the NFL’s 32 teams have visited Ferris State in regards to Vander Laan. The two exceptions were the Pittsburgh Steelers and New England Patriots.
