Personal
Full name is DeShawnte Antonio Lloyd… Born in Baltimore, Maryland.… Parents are Cory DarDeh and Alameda Lloyd… Has two brothers and one sister… Major is health and liberal arts.

Lloyd is one of the more unique and intriguing prospects I’ve spoken with during the 2019 NFL Draft process. There is more than meets the eye even with his massive 6-foot-1 and 319-pound frame.

Prior to becoming a defensive force on the interior, he was playing basketball amongst the highest AAU level competition in the country. That is when it clicked for me why he looks so fluid and athletic for a man his size, it is the basketball background that lies within, which shows up on his football film. He was dominating the hardwood in Charles Barkley fashion up until the age of 15 when he knew his size and strength would be best suited to wreak havoc on opposing offenses on the gridiron.

Despite losing his mother at an early age and attending 5 different high schools, Lloyd is one of the most up-beat personalities you can find. He can capture room with his fun-loving nature that creates a team comradery. Bouncing from group home to group home, it would have been easy for Lloyd to lose focus, but he left Baltimore and began his journey towards the NFL at the JUCO level (College of the Sequoias).

Fast forward to 2018 and his final year at New Mexico State. He made the leap from JUCO to D1 and was on the NFLPA Watchlist prior to a knee injury that limited him to only five games, in his final year of college football. Despite the lack of game reps, he played in both the Tropical Bowl and Gridiron Showcase.

Lloyd has a thickly built., widebody. For his size he is very active. He shows quickness, body control, power and strength to fight off blocks and make plays in the backfield. Will chase down the line and pursue. Strength at the point of attach and can torque defenders with his upper body. He possesses one-technique ability to man two gaps and push the pocket. Lloyd was extremely productive prior to knee injury senior season. Aggressive nasty demeanor resonates on the field with hustle.

Totally has the upside to compete for a roster spot and make a name for himself in camp.
