Steinmetz has exceptional size along with the ability to match. Grades and little exposure slowed his recruiting progress leaving high school. He quickly proved at Rhode Island that his ability was on par with the best programs in the nation. He transferred to Purdue in 2017 and his impact was felt with being invited to play in the NFLPA Collegiate Bowl. He has an NFL frame to play tackle at the next level. NFLPA coaches lined Steinmetz at guard during his week in Los Angeles, his first time regulated to the position and performed well. Steinmetz knows how to use his length (wide wing-span) to his advantage. Displaying good feet he is able to react quickly to get into his stance and stem. He shows some nastiness and finishes his blocks. Plays with awareness and adjusts to stunts and blitzes. Agile enough deal with smaller quicker pass rushers.
